By Virus1824 - For Beginners

Hi, this is my first tutorial ever so don't flame me if it sux ;)

since i'm utterly very bored i decided to help the people who aren't familiar with scanning a bit.

This tutorial covers the basic options and actions of Languard scanner, it is not ment for adcanced hackers  and such.

introduction

First of all get Languard from

http://www.gfi.com/downloads/downloads.asp?pid=8&vid=1&lid=1

When u got languard installed and u have 1 IP or a IP range to scan you're ready to go. First we will cover  the basic options u may need.

options

First goto "scan-options", Then u will enter a menu with various options such as timeouts retries Netbios scans ect.

Goto "scanning" u will find a list of things u can scan, such as netbios etc, i suggest u turn all the options  on, and set the port scanning delay to 2000 (ms) anymore is useless. Also turn on "read banners".

Next you'll see "gathering information" and beneath that are:

-operations to be performed

-list of ports to be scanned

We will leave "operations to be performed" for now and focus on "list of ports to be scanned". on the right  u see a pictogram next to ports to be scanned, click on it.

When u do that u'l see a list of ports the program scans for when u scan a IP.

U can add ports, delete em turn em on or off.

Lets add a new port for the program to scan shall we?

on the right u will see a menu with:

-port number

-port description

and some options u can turn on and off such as

-is a trojan port

-read banner

Port number defines the port the program scans while doing its sweep, the port description is the  description of the port like port 27374-description:

Subseven server. The last 2 speak for themselves.

Now lets add a new port.

in port number type: 3500

in port description type: some weird trojan, then turn on "is a trojan port"

and "Read banner", then click on "add port" and "save changes" and ure done.

u can add as many ports as u want too, and turn em on or off.

Scanning

now when u configured the options ure ready to scan an IP. on the main menu u will see pictograms like a  play button and such. click on the pitcogram that looks like a paper. When u did that a menu will popup  that will ask if u want to scan only 1 computer or a range of computers. Simply make ure choice enter the  ip and click Finish. then on the far left click on the play button and it will begin its sweep. When its done u  will see netbios exploit (if the computer has 1) and open ports and much more information which u can  use.

This Tutorial was ment for the newbies of the scanning world veterans wont learn anything from this  tutorial, this tutorial is for educational purposes only damage to computers or such are not my fault and  never will be i claim no responsibility whatsoever.

If u publish it on a site its oke with me as long as my name is in the credits and this txt file isn't altered. Also tanx to Stubby for correcting me with spelling errors :)
